Crypto exchange Gemini expands its presence in Europe

Last week, the trading platform launched in Latvia, Denmark, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Liechtenstein.

Gemini is now present in the markets of 12 European countries. The crypto exchange is ready to accept euros and pounds sterling for payment. Access to Gemini promises fintech startups and any legal entities operating in new regions - they will be able to take advantage of storage, clearing, trade execution, as well as portfolio management services.

In total, the exchange now operates in 65 countries and, according to Gemini, global expansion is one of the main goals of the company. Especially in Europe. In 2022, the company, despite a long decline in the cryptocurrency market, expanded its presence in the markets of Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Cyprus. 

“As Europe develops and improves the regulatory framework for the regulation of crypto assets (MiCA), designed to balance the regulation of the digital asset industry in Europe, we see huge growth opportunities for companies like ours,” says Gillian Lynch, one of the Gemini regional managers. Last month, Cameron Winklevoss stepped down as director of the crypto exchange, leaving behind his role as president and CEO of Gemini.
