Former Coinbase VP Dan Romero has raised $30 million from venture capitalists to build the protocol for Farcaster, a new decentralized social network.

According to Dan Romero on his website, A16 Crypto, the crypto arm of Andressen Horowitz, tops the VC list with over $$4.5 billion in assets.

“Farcaster is a new decentralized social network where not only what you say matters, but also what you can prove. Anyone can create a client application to broadcast messages on the Farcaster network. Our goal is to create a trustworthy protocol where users have a direct relationship with their audience and developers are free to create new clients without any permissions,” Romero said.

Recall that according to Bloomberg, the interest of venture investors in financing new cryptocurrency startups in the II quarter of this year fell to the lowest level in a year.
